Filipe Soares is AI Entrepreneur at Peeking Window startup, and Senior Scientist at Fraunhofer Portugal AICOS, who holds a Ph.D. with the highest honors in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Beira Interior.
Expert in computer vision, intelligent and decision support systems working for several sectors such as Manufacturing and Healthcare, mostly in Ophthalmology (more than 8 years). He has experience in Project Management and Project Acquisition in the areas of Applied Research & Development and Software Engineering in AI. Filipe has been working in responsible AI for CADx in Diabetic Retinopathy and Glaucoma and developing a new mobile device for retinal imaging. He also has knowledge in patent protection, clinical research and protocol design for data collection.
Filipe started as a researcher in medical imaging at Siemens Healthcare, in the field of computer-aided detection and diagnosis of Breast Cancer, in a project for which he received the Siemens Innovation Award in 2012. He worked as a software engineer in telecommunications and embedded systems at Nokia Siemens Networks during 2013. Recently, he also received the 2nd prize Innovation Award by INCM at IN3+ 2021, 2nd prize in innovation category by ARRISCAC and 2nd prize School of Startups by UPTEC during 2023.
