Mary Witkowsky
Mary L. Witkowski, M.D., M.B.A. is a fellow at the Harvard Business School working at the Institute for Strategy & Competitiveness on value-based health care. Her work focuses on research on value-based care delivery, payment reform, and health equity. Mary is an instructor in the HBS Executive Education program in value-based health care and a member of the teaching group at Harvard Medical School in the Essentials of the Profession II course.
Previously, Mary directed research and advised senior leadership at hospitals throughout the United States and globally to evaluate impact of a Time-Driven Activity-Based Costing. Her research has been published in the Journal of Healthcare Management, Accounting Horizons, New England Journal of Medicine, Health Affairs and the Harvard Business Review Online Forum and in case studies at the Harvard Business School.
Mary has served on non-profit boards for over 20 years. She currently sits on the HMS Board of Fellows, the HMS Advisory Council on Education, and the boards of The Lynch Foundation and Theatre on Ice of Boston. Her non-profit areas of focus are improving quality and equity in the educational and health care systems.
Mary Witkowski received her Bachelor’s degree from Harvard College, a Masters of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Doctor of Medicine degree from the Harvard Medical School. Previously Mary worked in strategy consulting at Bain in Company in their Boston and New York offices. She is a proud mother of four children and a competitive ice skater.
